About Mandy

I studied photography at the Queensland College of Art and RMIT University. I worked in advertising and fashion photography in Brisbane, Melbourne and London. I also received several art grants to hold solo exhibitions.

After travelling through Europe and Asia (often living in temples and doing long meditation retreats), I returned to Australia to study counselling and art therapy.

I studied counselling at AIPC and completed the Masters of Mental Health (Art Therapy) at the University of Queensland. I completed an additional 3 years of training in Sensorimotor Art Therapy at the Institute of Sensorimotor Art Therapy, Victoria.

I hold a special interest in the combination of body psychotherapy, mindfulness and art therapy used for healing trauma (known as sensorimotor art therapy). I have also been trained by psychologist Ursula Banstead to deliver the Shark Cage program, to individuals and groups, for those who have experienced family violence and sexual abuse.

I am a registered Art Therapist with ANZACATA and registered Counsellor with PACFA. I am based between Byron Bay and Ballina, NSW. I have worked with individuals and groups including:

  • Children and adolescents with intellectual and physical disabilities.
  • Children and adolescents with autism, ADHD and other learning difficulties
  • Children, adolescents and adults who have experienced trauma.
  • Adults with complex diagnoses (including schizophrenia, PTSD, anorexia and bi-polar disorder).
  • Children and adolescents who have been affected by floods.
  • Children, adolescents and adults affected by domestic violence and sexual abuse.
